BCBA Brings the BC Perspective to National Industry Discussions
The BC Broadband Association recently represented British Columbia’s broadband community at the CanWISP Annual Conference in Markham, Ontario.
BCBA participated in a panel discussion focused on future opportunities for wireless internet service providers. The session provided an opportunity to highlight the unique challenges and opportunities facing broadband operators in British Columbia, particularly those serving rural, remote and underserved communities.
By participating in national industry events, BCBA helps ensure that the perspectives of BC providers are included in broader conversations about spectrum, infrastructure, regulation and the future of wireless broadband.
The conference also provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships with industry associations, network operators and technology partners from across Canada.
Standing Up for Fair Wholesale Pricing
BCBA also joined a coalition of industry voices in formally opposing a proposed increase in allowable markups on wholesale internet products.
Fair wholesale access and competitive pricing are essential to supporting independent internet providers and maintaining consumer choice. Higher wholesale costs can place additional pressure on smaller operators and may ultimately result in higher prices for end users.
BCBA will continue to advocate for policies that promote fair competition, sustainable operations and affordable internet services.
A Stronger Voice for BC Broadband
Through regulatory advocacy, national industry engagement and collaboration with partner organizations, BCBA continues to represent and support British Columbia’s broadband community.
