Bob Allen
CEO - ABC Communications
Bob Allen is the founder and CEO of ABC Communications, one of the largest provider of rural broadband service in the province. Bob began his career as a Journeyman Electrician in 1972 and worked as a contractor on various large projects in the Cariboo region during the 80s. He served as President of the Quesnel Construction Association and as Chairman of the Board of the Northern B.C. Constructions Association during that time. In 1989, he founded ABC Communications with wife, Christine. He is in charge of ABC's strategic corporate planning and business developments, as well as technical, engineering and financial operations.
He is also the primary architect of the company's extensive licensed broadband wireless network throughout the province, and is responsible for ABC's corporate and government wireless portfolio. Under his guidance ABC has grown to where it sits today - with thousands of Dial Up, ADSL, Wireless and Web customers serviced throughout the Interior of BC. In 2001, Bob was appointed the president of Open Source Solutions (OSS), a consortium of 10 B.C. ISP's, with combined revenues over 15 million. OSS is a significant supplier of high-speed Internet connectivity to provincial government ministries and schools. Bob has lead OSS to be a key player in helping to solve the digital divide through the Network BC Connecting Communities Agreement.

Rey Sonico
Project Manager - ABC Communications
Rey Sonico is a Project Manager at ABC Communications. He started working with ABC Communications in May 2009 initially managing a broadband deployment project for the company. He was also part of the team that led the successful implementation of the BC Broadband Conference held in May 2010. To further increase his knowledge and upgrade his skills, he is currently completing a Project Management Course at the University of British Columbia.
Prior to joining ABC Communications, Rey has over 10 years experience in the telecommunications industry in management and specialist roles involving telecom switches, data network operations monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting, and fibre optics with a leading provider specializing in fixed line.

Chris Allen
President - ABC Communications
Chris Allen is the President at ABC Communications. He has worked closely with his father, Bob Allen, over the past decade to grow the family business into new markets. While rural broadband is one of the biggest areas of growth for the company, it has also worked to provide telecommunications services to its urban business market throughout the Province. Chris has been involved with the BC Broadband Association since its inception and is eager to grow the group of companies and organizations it can represent to provide a stronger voice for BC.

Jim Chisholm
Manager, Customer Solutions - Navigata Communications
Jim is the Manager , Customer Solutions for Navigata Communications. In this role, Jim is involved in developing new products as well as overseeing customer support. He has 14 years experience in the telecommunication industry and has held postions in Marketing, Sales, and Project Management. Prior to joining Navigata, Jim was an Account Executive with Microcell Solutions, selling wireless services to business under the Fido brand name. He holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Adminstration from Simon Fraser University.

Michael Hrybyk
President and CEO - BCNET
Michael Hrybyk is BCNET's President and CEO. He actively oversees and manages the operations of the society and is responsible for implementing the overall mission and vision of BCNET. He has managed BCNET since 1994. He pioneered the concept of transit exchanges as a method of linking research and education networks to their local communities as well as to national and international peers. Mr. Hrybyk has been an active member of the technology community in the U.S. and Canada and has been recognized for his efforts in helping to develop the Canadian Internet. In 2003, he received a BC Information Technology Builder Award, and in 2002 was recognized by the University Presidents' Council for his work creating advanced networks for BC's universities. In 1997, he was named as a builder of Canada's information society by CANARIE and Prime Minister Jean Chrétien.

Scott Jamieson
President and COO of a2b Fiber
Scott Jamieson is the President and COO of a2b Fiber Inc., a CRTC registered common carrier, which owns and operates next generation open access fibre optic networks.
Scott has 20 years of Fiber Network Engineering and Operations experience and a Bachelors of Science from the University of British Columbia. He was the National Manager of the Fiber Optic Engineering Department of Group Telecom with management responsibility for a $100M capital budget for network deployment and 400,000 fibre kilometers of plant, 15 employees in offices from coast to coast, and fibre systems responsibility within a company with a quarter billion revenue run rate and over a billion dollars in financing.

Andrew Lane
Owner, PerfectWorld Innovations
Andrew might best be described as a serial entrepreneur. In the 26 years since Engineering School at the University of Waterloo he has been self employed for 24 of them and PerfectWorld is the fourth small technology company he has been involved with. After a year as a partner in Application Software doing LAN deployments and custom software development Andrew moved on to spend the next 9 years leading a small company, Rockpoint Computers Ltd, that focused on developing applications in the Property Management business, ISO9000 Tracking Systems, and the Commercial Insurance Industry.
During that time the company developed and sold ProQuote to commercial insurance brokers across Canada. Rockpoint also leveraged skills in xbase languages to enhance TeleMagic CRM for clients in Southern Ontario. Moving on from Rockpoint he spent a year implementing a Citrix WAN in rural Southern Ontario across 9 insurance offices before ADSL was widely available. Andrew came to BC and moved in to a role as Director of Professional Services for Maximizer Software the Vancouver based CRM Software Company.
After a brief hiatus to compete in the World Masters Games in Australia he became the owner of PerfectWorld Innovations. In the six years with PerfectWorld Andrew has expanded the company’s footprint to include much of the Province and it has become one of the largest suppliers of last mile broadband services to the Province of BC. In addition to his role with PerfectWorld Andrew acts as the Director of Sales for Open Source Solutions representing all the member companies to the Province.
